Behind a great pitching performance from Jeremy Guthrie, the Orioles beat the Red Sox in game two. They look to take the rubber game of the series today in a mid-day game.
The O’s really held this lineup in check yesterday, only giving up a two-run home run to Salty (who is not in the lineup today). Navarro gets the start today coming as a platoon player.
Miller will get his 6th start of the season for the Sox. His numbers aren’t very good (considering he walks more than he K’s per nine, which is never EVER a good thing). Also, his ERA is just plain bad as well.
This might be why he gets knocked around so much, with very limited pitch use. Three pitches, and it’s mostly fastballs (around 68%). Needs to get more variation to become more effective.
Angle is out of the lineup today, as is Blake Davis. Lee hit his 10th home run yesterday and Reynolds his 21st. Nice to see a burst of power from this lineup.
Arrieta has been very ineffective lately and he walks way to many to be good. He really needs to get that BB/9 down to make that K/9 look better.
He gets a fair share of whiffs but his pitches don’t move enough consistently. He leaves too many pitches over the plate (when he isn’t striking them out). Needs to locate his pitches better.
