* Nobody got hurt, I guess.
* David Hernandez didn’t really get knocked around – and he looked decent in the early innings – but giving up 5 runs to the M’s isn’t a good game (even if the defense let him down). 5.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R (4 ER), 4 BB, 4 K, 1 HR. Might have been enough to keep his job for a little while longer though.
* Reimold picked up a hit at the plate, but made a couple poor plays in the outfield. One of which – his inability to throw in the ball on a single – allowed a runner to score. I can’t believe the possibility of Pie being the worse left-fielder is even argued. Against righties, Scott should be out there.
* The offense managed 8 hits against Cliff Lee (6 singles) – and two of those runners was erased on a double plays – but they were scattered pretty well. Part of that is the M’s defense, but the O’s couldn’t really do much with Lee. He only K’ed two, but one gets the feeling that he could have gotten a couple more if he had needed to. He didn’t need to though. And he still has zero walks on the season.
As soon as Ryan Langerhans went yard, I kind of felt it was over. O’s lose 5-1, and drop to 9-24 on the season.
No game stuff tomorrow as – weather permitting – the softball team tries to even up their record after an 0-2 start to the season last week. I’m hitting a nice .750, despite four balls in play traveling a total of maybe 350 feet. Thank you liberal scoring system. Going to the game on Thursday, so no preview then either. Hoping to see the series win.
